Covermeter
The Covermeter (CM) method is used to determine the location of the top mat of rebar in slabs, walls and other reinforced concrete structures where the rebar is located less than five inches from the surface. In addition, the CM method can estimate the size of a single bar in the top rebar mat in a given location in the slab. Lastly, the CM method can determine the cover to the rebar. It is a useful tool because it is fast and easy to use, with the results available immediately in the field. The CM method is often used in conjunction with Ground Penetrating Radar to verify results of rebar and conduit location surveys.
